My latest US radio demo

2015-05-19 07.11.25Good morning blog fans everywhere and thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to waste a few minutes with me here – I really do appreciate it.

Many moons ago, when I first got started in voice over, I made a point of never putting myself up for work that required an American accent. It occurred to me than in an already very crowded marketplace, that a native American would stand a much better chance than I, and so I let the opportunities pass me by.

Over time however, I noticed an increasing number of fellow British actors taking roles in some very high profile US TV series. In fact, in some cases, I didn’t even know they were British until I looked up their profiles. We all know that, at one point, the highest paid actor in a TV series was Hugh Laurie for his outstanding performance in House, and for me, this meant that my self imposed barrier simply had to come down.

And I’m rather pleased it did, as I now get to work with a much larger group of clients and my US accent has been heard on radio and TV commercials both here in the UK and in the USA. All of which has allowed me to present this new demo. It wasn’t put together by a professional demo maker, and if you need one, I’m happy to point you in the direction of some wonderfully talented people (you’re reading this – you know who you are). No, I put this together myself as a new calling card into production houses throughout the US, and it’s a calling card that will continue to change (and I daresay improve) as I record more commercials.

But for now, enjoy:
