Corporate films are easily divided into two main categories – explainer videos and corporate presentations. Each have their own style, mainly because each is targeting a different audience.

A corporate presentation is likely to be seen by shareholders, existing clients and staff. Granted, these are sometimes also shared with potential customers, but unlike a web video, by the time these potential clients watch the video, they will already be a little further along in the process of being closed as a client.

Corporate presentations tend to employ higher production values. There will be shots of various office locations and staff at work. Viewers will see products, and may well even see the manufacture of those products too. Everything is very slick and polished – all designed to show off the very best aspects of the company.

Explainer videos can be much simpler. Indeed, many smaller companies take to animating their own in order to keep production costs down. The end result is a video which presents the company as friendly, helpful, and ready to do business with the viewer.

The voice over for an explainer video is generally lighter in tone than that of the corporate presentation, and you can hear that by taking a listen to these two demos.
